To Whom It May Concern:

On August 2nd and 3rd 2012 my wife, son, and I were to stay at the Super 8 hotel in Owatonna Mn. I called in February to make my reservations. I called to confirm my reservation with them on the 28th of July. I was told at that time I did indeed have a reservation for the 2nd. Because I forgot to ask, I called back again on the 29th of July to be sure we had a room for the 3rd as well. I was informed that it was for the 3rd as well. At no time during the three conversations I had with them did they mention any certain time I had to check in.

I was in town as a vendor at a convention and when the convention closed I went directly to check in to my hotel. Arriving at 7:05pm, I was informed that “since I did not get there by 6pm” they had given my room, which I thought I had reserved since February, to someone else! I told them no one mentioned a 6pm deadline to me, they were rather rude in telling me there was nothing they could do about it. We had had a very stressful day and certainly didn’t need this! We had no recourse to but to seek another hotel, but with the convention in town we had to drive 30 miles to Albert Lea Mn. to find one of the very few rooms available in the area. Not only did this new hotel cost us nearly double the rate we expected to pay at the Super 8 but we had to drive an added 60 miles a day to get to and from the convention.

The next day, at the convention, one of my colleges informed me he was in the hotel lobby when they were giving away my room and had informed them we were in town, still they did not save the room for us!!!!

To say we were extremely upset is an understatement! I am not sure why I’m even writing to inform you but I just felt you needed to know!

Sent in directly to the head quarters on the Super 8 chain.

Did you reserve with a credit card? That is usually they key. is so then you have a guaranteed room. If not then they were correct.

Unfortunately, vikesbull is correct.

When you were making the initial reservation, they should have asked you if you wanted to guarentee the room for late arrival. That requires a credit card.

It still sucks though.

They had my credit card # since I called in Feburary.

ADC - You got screwed. If they had you CC number they should have held it. I'd be calling someone tomorrow AM.

That really sucks. Nothing like only telling a person half the rules before you enter into an agreement. Hope the chain does something but wouldn't hold my breath. Did the new pl;ace at least have a bar so you could wind down a little? The host motel we stayed at was dry and the only one around besides Applebees closed at 10:30. At $11.00 for 2 drinks we sure didn't stay long. Someone needs to do a little more indepth for the next one.

ADC, check your credit card to make sure they didn't charge you for the room. A friend of mine had a motel give away his room like happened to you and then charged him for it anyway.

It wasn't me Jayme i got my room at 3:15 Thursday and it was at Country Inn and Suites.
That is BS I'd be calling corparate in the morning, Who knows you may get free rooms next year

I had a reservation at the american hotel in waseca. Upon checking in my lil guy and I were playing in the room found dirty womens underwear under the bed and beer cans behind the tv with frozen vegetables still in the freezer. I asked for Thursday through Saturday morning. They charged me for Saturday night I've got my calls in as well. I got what I paid for however the indian dude at the counter was rude as well. We will see what happens. Next year ill plan for the 100 dollar a nite clean and friendly place

Since they had your credit card, you have a legitimate gripe. Did they also give you a confirmation # in Feb? If so, hang on to that.

Keep on the super 8 office until you get some satisfaction.

They do it because they get away with it.Go on line and get a copy of their customer agreements and policies and see what Super 8's official policies are.If they violated their own policy in some manner I would demand to be compensated for the additional costs you incurred due to their actions.I would send e-mails and call every few days until they make it right.Make sure they didn't charge anything to your card.Sorry to hear that happened to you.

You should call in the morning. You might mention you are a prominent memmber of one of the worlds largest and most visited trapping sites.....and word travels fast. Especially bad news.

Jayme, we arrived at the same motel on Fri. after the T-Man feed and had no problem. Probably around 8:30 p.m. So I suppose I was 2 1/2 hrs late. I did reserve in march through Wyndham rewards, which may be the difference. So yeah, you got reamed bigtime!!!!

They were told they had better not, but I'm watching my on-line banking to be sure I'm not charged. I'm not going down quitely!

that has nothing to do with it, it is more likely all them single-toothed southerneres are always sleeping over and with their sisters, they never have to stay in a hotel

If you have a confirmation number and guaranteed with a credit card then corporate should kiss your arse and get after the local super 8

I'm pretty sure Jayme made his reservation at the Comfort Inn and thought it was the Super 8, at least that's what I heard. No wonder they couldn't find a room for you....

The only thing I'd have done different is find the President of the companies name, on their website or thru www.thomasregister.net and written him directly.

It works wonders for me, usually getting free stays, meals, show tickets, etc,
when THE BIG GUY finds out about these issues.

Contacted customer service,,,, "they will be in contact within 3 days to resolve the issue." I'll let you know how it turns out. At least they know I'm ticked. I'll be posting an online review as well after "the issue is resolved".

In my opinion, they should reimburse you for the other hotel, plus mileage.

I would send them another e-mail and let them know again what happened and if they fail to make it right then I would also let them know that you WILL be talking to the Better Buisness Bureua. Buisnesses don't like that when you mention the three "B's".

If you don't get satisfaction, contact the state attorney general's office. Most states have regulations under which the hotels are required to operate. Those cutoff times to cancel a reservation without your card being charged, for instance, fall under state regulations.
