I don't like the "L" on the old springs. Coyotes can get their teeth under it pretty easily and pop them. It also can lead to high loose jaw problems.

Tim, I was wondering about the pan tension on these.. I am not familiar with pinch pans.. Do the pans fall under its own weight (for say water trapping), or are they 1-2 lbs (for say land trapping), Or are they adjustable?? Thanks in advance

Where are we with the Bridger dogless #3 production?

True pinch pans have no real adjustment. If you look at this traps pan base attachment there is a threaded screw to adjust the tension if needed.

If you are familiar with the old Bridger #1.5 you will know that they have a brass bolt/nut to set pan tension. They are the bomb!!!!

Any pictures showing the lever and jaws with something in the trap, like a chunk of 1/4 inch wood? The angled area inside the levers looks, interesting.

I am abit concerned at how rounded the jaw face looks. We all remember how well the old mongomeries didn't hold wet coon no matter how strong they were.

I/m guessing these will do better, however.

they are 100% adjustable, will fall under their "own weight" of the jaw pressure tension exhrted and the pans are bigger surface area than #1.5 Duke coils. So if stock Duke pans are big enough, the Bridgers are bigger yet. All I do to adjust is bend dog frame until pan sits slightly higher than jaws level... maybe 1/8th of an inch to 1/4 inch max. That's it, all the tuning they need for water lines from the box.

I think the old style was/are best foothold trap for muskrats available to purchase new for a lot of reasons stated in prior threads. The new model looks equal or better.

When I held the Bridger #1.5 coils in my hand straight from the box, it was obvious they'd be excellent muskrat traps. There was no need for field testing to prove that... could tell just by holding them and snapping a set trap, once.

What I found on the line was exactly what I knew I would see: muskrats in shallow or deep water, stone cold dead, no wringoffs. The trap is so dense & heavy, muskrats cannot move around with it like they can #1.5 longsprings, #1.5 dukes, #2 old-style Victor coils. All of those models are light enough for rats to swim with for short distances. There is no swimming at all when caught with #1.5 Bridgers... they go straight down, nose down and stay there until expiry.
