Hello Folks,
Wanted to update you on the New Bridger #1 1/2 coils. They are being made right now but won't be here in time for the NTA convention due to the boat ride so we are having some air freighted in just for the convention. This is not a good finacial move as the freight will be about $40 a dozen but we wanted to have a limited supply of them to display and sell. We will only be bringing 75 dozen in for the show. A container of them (3,000 dozen) will arrive by boat on about September 12th and we will be good to go after that. For this year it will be just the regular jaw(closed jaw)version that we are changing. In 2013 we will bring in the offset jaw. For every person that has requested that we change the trap design, that many or more (particularly fox trappers) have asked that we don't change it so we will likely go forward with both. The new style will be referred to as the #1 1/2 Bridger Special. Our new catalog will be out in 2-3 weeks and what is listed in there is the old or standard model as we weren't sure of a release date at the time of printing.
We were not entirely happy with the first prototypes of just changing the jaws without changing the levers (too much slop in the jaws). This caused a delay while new lever dies were made and required additional field testing. We are happy now and look forward to showing you the new design at the NTA convention. In addition to the new jaws and levers, the #1 1/2 Bridger Special will come with music wire springs for extended life, a larger "bump" in the Paws-I-Trip type dog to prevent blow by, and we have moved the chain to the other end of the trap as it was always backwards to us. Below are a couple pictures so you can see what is coming.
Thanks for looking. Tim Caven, Minnesota Trapline Products.
