i had played with this set with some success just using lure but they really did not work it all that hard. so for fox and yote i was looking at running ground mice and rd fox gland. any thighs?
and trap placement i have seen people put it infornt on the sides even in. watched freeburgs movie winter coyotes before the freeze up he was not even burring them and just kicking out a spot to sit the trap. picks are grate but please explain your set

All i do is stake my traps and put them 180 degrees from each other, set each trap on a thin layer of hay to keep it from freezing down and then put a thin layer over each trap and a good pile between them.

Ive used just urine, urine and gland lure, urine and bait, and i cant say that any has out performed the other.

I stake 2 traps about 4 feet apart. I like to bed the traps like any other set only I dont cover them with dirt. Then cover the traps with a little hay. I dont maake a pile of hay I spread it out.I have the most luck with fox frenzy and red fox urine.

When your making your hay sets this way,are you just applying the lure on top of the hay between the traps?

gwc,
I poke a small hole for lure under the hay between the traps.

I don't have pictures of this but it works well for me with coyotes when I have the hay to play with.I walk around and pack the snow down in about a three foot circle.I always use 2 traps and usually on drags,I dig out 2 trap beds in the snow and add peat and sand mixture and bed the traps in it so they are about a foot apart with the center of the packed down area between the traps, don't really matter where you put them actually.I use straight peat inside the jaws and a real lite coat over the trap too.Poke holes all round and between the traps and put bait in each hole, whole mice are good but any meat bait will work.Cover with hay,all you need is enough to hide the traps and cover the packed down area. Then you can scatter some bait around in the hay also.Just make sure there is no bait on,or right tight to a trap. The idea is that they get on the hay and start milling looking for the bait. You can use a small clump of hay or a stick in the center between the traps and hit it with a shot of pee and a little gland, that is all the lure you really need...
