I was makeing some today and decided too take some pics and mabye help someone out. This isnt my Idea by any means,I got the idea from one of Mark Stects videos.

Tools needed...Sawsall or hacksaw,hammer,drill,tape measure,sharpie,plyers,vice.

Take your measurement and mark you pvc were it is to be cut.I cut mine so that the part that goes in the ground is at a 45% angle.

I make two sizes 12 inch for hard ground and 18 inches for soft.

Mark the tops of them with your sharpie if you wish.
I do so just to help me out at grabbing the right one.

If you have problems with coon pulling them out,you can drill a hole through the center and wire it off to a diposable stake and then drive into the ground. This realy helps if you are trapping a river with a fast curret where your pipe could float down stream.

And here is the trap placement( would be under water )

Is that 1 inch pvc? I made a few last year and I plan on making a lot more between now and the start of the season. Had great results. How many did you make and how namy are you planning on running.

When you put the bait inside the elbow of the pipe doesn't it just fall down inside to the bottom or doesn't that matter?

if your useing disposible stakes, why not just run it from your trap right through the hole you drilled in the pvc?

I was thinkin the same thing! maybe the pvc is brittle & will break when the coon starts raising cane!!

Just ask your mommy...

Does using the elbow give much of an advantage over not using an elbow and driving the pipe in the ground at an angle, shoving a wad of grass down it to hold the bait, then a chunk of fish?

Hogball-Im useing 3/4 inch pvc for mine.
Rich p-I make my bait real think and sticky so I dont have the problem of it falling down the pipe.
wcrose19-Cuz I run chain to a stake out in the water. I only use the disposable when I'm in a river with a fast current.

If you have a powered miter box saw, it makes cutting PVC MUCH easier!

Not really too much efort into them. There very inexpensive too. From the cost of the pipe and the elbow on a 12 inch pipe it only costs me 35 cents to make.I can make ten 12 inch pipes in about 5 mins.Yes I do use a couple at a time where it permits. Not my favorite set but pretty close.

thats cool, but to me, you should have used them as bank poles first, to weather them and make sure you get your moneys worth, heck i do that and i get most of them for free

The elbow is a great idea because it forces the coon over the trap in most case's. To prevent bait from falling down into the tube put a wad of fiberglass insulation down into the elbow.
