Nope I haven't. I was questioning the set hoping to get some kind of feedback by someone who caught alot with it. Alot of guys talk about it working but none of them ever say whether it caught them 2 or 100. Makes me wonder how effective it was. From my experience with coon they will play with stuff that they find laying in the crick. Just figure it would be the same for a shiny trap pan. If someone is catching a hundred coon in a week on this set then I would consider it a good set and would make use of it. If they get 5 in a whole season then I likely would never try it. smile

"Alot" is a relative thing. It's hard to catch 100 coon a week in ANY set when the entire ANNUAL harvest of coon in your county is only 108.
Like I said, it worked for me.

I seem to have problems with sets like this. As said above they always seem to play with the trap rather than step on the pan. Once I switched to DP's my coon catch tripled.

Seen a nice double on otter one time using that set in a small clear stream.

I've tried to comment on this again 3 times now and I always delete it because it sounds like I'm being a jerk when I'm not trying to be. I'll refrain from any further talk of tin foil. I am going to throw out a dozen 1.5s this fall with the rest of my line and see what happens. I don't like when people put their input on something without ever doing it so I wont put any more into this topic until I do know something about it. smile

Just a gimick that went out of fashion with the 'horseshoe nail' set.

What's the horseshoe nail set? Never heard of this, but I've got lots of horseshoe nails. . .

The foil set works a lot better if you first make a hat out of it, and wear the foil hat while setting and running your traps. This will be a sign to the critters that your not fooling around, plus you will be able to pick up a few more radio stations in your truck while running your line. The hat should be in the shape of a swan and set firmly upon ones head for best results..........................RTT

I'd be curious if someone with good numbers of coons and a good history as a coon trapper would do an actual test with this set and provide results this fall. If i had any flowing water I'd do it, but I know there are lots better coon trappers that could maybe put this issue to bed once and for all.

Wouldn't it work pretty good to just place the foil in front of the bedded trap? Especially if you are worried about misses.
