Anyone wanna share some of their success tips, photos on their 155 trap size catches on coon?
I'm just interested in seeing how they work for you folks that use them. I am strictly a 160 user for coon.

I am going to try some this year. Due to our 5" bodygrip law, that is the max that can be used on land in Mo.

My question is why would you want a smaller sized conibear when you can use a larger one? You Will get more refusals with a smaller trap. If you can only use 160s, use 160s.

I have a picture but not much of a story. Coons travel through a small hole in the stump of a overhanging tree on the river bank. I placed my 5x5 in the hole and had this nice sized coon the next morning.

I think there are a few threads about smaller body grips used for coons, but this is one I can recall off of the top of my head. From what I can remember the trick seems to be to funnel them in and then set them up so a coon will stick his head into them.

If you catch a coon real high behind the neck you might hit it's skull and delay a quick kill....just my thoughts.
160 gets them behind in the neck and throat area majority of times

Stick with ur 160's. Only 5x5 that I get excited about has a white tail.

If you need to use them due to laws then obviously do so. There are a few ways to make them work even with larger coon, but if you can use a slightly large trap.

when i was learning to use the 5x5's when livin in missouri, i got to where i could consistently catch coons, any size in em in trail sets. just got to find that spot where they already squeeze through and put the trap there, that simple. had a spot in iowa when i came up to be a non resident trapper one time, and i suitcased a 20 pound coon in the little 5x5, i like to never got him out, but don't know how he got that far before the trap fired
