I have some Blake and Lamb #44 double long springs. I got them to put big pans on and use for cats. Kansas went and changed the regs and now the jawspread is to big to use on land. Would these be good enough to use on wolf? They are wicked strong and are about the size of a 4 1/2 newhouse. I understand that laminations and mods may be needed, just wondering if they would be good enough to do that to or just leave them for beaver traps?

They're not built for wolves. The pan will be gone, if the jaws don't pop out first. Laminations may cure the jaw's popping out, but not the pan/dog vulnerability.

They're excellent beaver traps though.

Good enough for me! Thanks. Anyone know what size PIT pan a guy could put on them, the stock pans are crappy to say the least.

No wolves in KS, If they were tough enough I thought about having them modified and selling them for a profit.

Set on drags with a shock spring. Pans probally should be modified or you will need a metal detector as they come off every time. I will work but if you get a big one it might

I ended up with a few of these this year and they are by far my favorite beaver trap now. Pan assembly is a little cheasy, but for beaver it holds up fine.

Thanks for the information, I'll have to get a few of those. I've got 2 or 3 with broken pan assembly's.
