i need a little help on what is customary to charge to remove beaver,i have not had a chance to get problem beaver,i really don't know what to charge. i figure 45 or$50 per head is pretty close. any help from any adc trappers would be appreated.

Unless your charging set up fees or milage I would charge 100 per head.It all depends on how far you have to travel every couple days to tend traps til the last beaver is gone.

On the rare occasion when I do private beaver work, its $225. set-up fee and $100. per beaver. If its over 50 miles away, I also charge $.75 per mile.

Remember when doing nuisance beaver work the problem is not gone until you remove ALL the beaver.
There are some guys from your area on the ADC forum here that could give you some more tips.

He's right. If you don't catch that last beaver, you can't really in good faith charge a fee, because the job isn't complete. At least, that's how I feel about it.

thanks paul/boco,that is sound advice,i've done some adc for coyote,fox and coon,mostly stopping raids on chicken pens and goat pens. there hav'nt been any more problems there since,but this beaver thing is new to me.i knew that if you leave just one the problem is not solved.i've trapped beaver during the regular trapping season,and have had good sucess at that. i'm going today to see exactly what i'm needing to do. the man says there two adults and four half grown kits that he has seen, but there are probally more.none the less i'll keep at it till i'm satisfied there are none left.i will leave the man feeling that he has gotten every thing he's paid for and then some. thats what i would expect if i were having someone do it for me. again, thanks for your great advice. dhawk

There is one thing I think we all agree on is that the job ain't done til the last one is gone... I do things a bit different but in the end it likely works out about the same... My IN SEASON prices are cheaper than when the fur isn't worth anything... In season I'm gonna be chasing more than just beaver as well.

In season I run $75 setup, $40 a head, and $20 /trip within reason... I've had jobs where the last one eluded me and I didn't think it was fair to continue trip fees. Anything over 25 miles my trip fee goes up.

Out of fur season I run $75 setup, $80/head, and the same trip fees.

That Said my fees change based on the price of gas and how much time I have available as well.

The main difference is Paul is doing it full time and making a living at it, I don't have the same level of freedom as he does but I do have the luxury of waiting for the fur to be good in most cases or even swapping control for hunting rights. I personally think it depends on WHAT a person is wanting to do... 90% of my ADC beaver jobs will be during season unless they are causing real damage and must be gotten rid of asap... Makes me feel better knowing that most of the ones I whack serve a purpose other than just preventing damage. I also don't have thousands and thousands of acres that I'm responsible for preventing damage on, the largest farmer I do control for has just a bit over 700 acres in trees planted.

I bet there aren't a dozen or so folks on here that could actually do Paul's job, I know for sure I'd have trouble if I could somehow manage to not drop like a fly... Frankly I don't know that I'd want it if I could handle it...

I charge hourly. From the time I leave my house it is $30.00 an hour.

most of mine are really close but I give the custermer the option of $30/hr or $35 /animal removal over 10 miles one way I charge mileage too set up is by the hour I trap until the dam stops getting rebuilt about 4-6 weeks out a straggler will come through and I go back and get that one too
