Looking to change from rebar to a earth anchor of some type. what is the most desired holding system. I trap in a variety of situations. Dry rocky to wet swamps. Thanks

I like and use chained super stakes, but have heard some pretty good things about the wolf fang anchors.

I like the chained super stakes because they are extremely durable. I make sure to weld all J-hooks and S-hooks shut as they are the weakest link in the whole set up. I'm going to make a puller for them as you can't power them out of the ground. I currently dig them up when I'm pulling sets. Haven't had one fail yet.

I started with berkshire HD's when I first switched and they were ok as a true disposable, but when I would pull them they would usually bend unless I dug them out. If you hit rocks you can send the driver through the tip making that stake useless (the same would happen when the ground would start to freeze). Overall they hold well, have a good price and you don't need a special driver to use them, so I would use the 4doz your getting (dig them out if reusing) and when you need more stakes get another brand such as the super stakes, duckbill or possibly wolf fangs but haven't tried them so I can't say for sure

Wolf fangs are top notch, they can be reused over and over and aren't that pricey.

I use broadhead disposable stakes with 18in of cable, and have never had a problem.

I trap a fair number of wet swamps and I just cable off to a tree and fasten with a quick link mostly 3/32" cable made up in 72" lengths

aprophet...i used to do that when i trapped in heavy woods, cause i trapped with rebar stakes at the time so i either used chain or cable and rapped it around trees and quick linked it like ya said

I've found that Wolf Fangs work the best in my area which is mostly clay and 3"-6" rock on 16"x 1/8" cable, no pullout possible.

I like the "duckbill" anchors I've been using,, but they are pricey,
At this years convention I will be seriously looking at other options, including the wolf-fangs,,

I trap in every soild condition known it seems, and i found that wolf fangs are hands down the earth anchor to go with! I have drove them through ice to anchor snares, frozen ground to anchor footholds, and through rocky soils. There aren't many anchors on the market that you can beat the heck out of and have both the anchor and driver hold up for a long time!

I make my own with 1/4" black pipe weld a nut on off center and I can make the cable longer or shorter depending on the ground I'm working in. I've found short trap chain multi swivel works best for me they can't really pump on it as well that and they're always pumping at an angle so they don't get a straight up pull.

Can someone explain how to make the driver for this. I get the anchor part. How do you collar the driver though?
