There has been a couple of questions about the Milk Jug Set the Jack Pine Savage used to catch 207 Weasels in 3 weeks last winter. Arnie wrote an excellent chapter in the most recent FTA book - Favorite Sets of Top Trappers - Volume III. I will not even begin to cover the information Arnie included in that article but here is a couple of picture so you get the general idea.
If I make any mistakes in describing the set perhaps the Jack Pine Savage himself will correct me !! Or maybe his wife !!!

Notice the use of flagging so the set could be located after a night of heavy snow.

Weasel needs to stand on the pan to get the prize !

The flap serves as a canopy to help protect the trap from snow.

The chain as well as the long spring are run out the back via a small flap cut in the back of the jug. Chain should be fastened in the event of an incidental catch !

Bait is suspended through the cap via wire. I know Arnie prefers Beaver soaked in Anise. He usually has lots of bait pre-wired so he can quickly just slide the wire up through the lid. I believe Arnie ran about 50 sets of this nature to set his new personal record.
