After I wax my traps and dye them, would it be ok to put them in a rubbermaid with some pine needles, pine cones and leaves to help keep them scent free? If not, how do you store your traps before the season after you dye and wax them?

I do the same way, but instead of pine cones or needles and leaves, I put a layer of dry dirt on the bottom of the container and close up tight.

Once the wax is dry just place in plastic buckets or totes and cover with a tight fitting lid. Place somewhere where they won't pick up any smells and your good to go until time to set your traps.

I place a layer of peat/ant hill dirt under mine, some grass clippings on top and wait for happy days. Grandfather stated to keep them in what you bed'em.

I set a box of baking soda opened lengthwise on top of the traps in each of my storage barrels.

I hang mine in the wood shed until ready for use.
I transport them while trapping in plastic containers with some spruce or fir in the bottom.

my experience if put in closed tight plastic containers with only waxed traps they will sweat and mold

I just leave mine outside on a rack till I need them. I have traps I dyed back in Spetember and I haven't taken them off the trap rack outside and they don't have a speck of rust on them. The air circulation keeps them scent free.
