Here are a couple of web sites with a range map, photos, and description of the eastern species of poison oak: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=topu2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxicodendron_pubescens And the western species: http://plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=TODI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxicodendron_diversilobum Poison ivy leaves are quite variable and sometimes have lobes like oak leaves. Check out the variety of leaves in the photos on this page (especially the photo labeled Ground-level poison ivy): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Poison_ivy
