So I'm heading down to California next week. I'll be heading back te 14th. I can go through Boise on the way back up there is a superslide office there we could get UHMW from. If we can get enough at once they will give us a discount and I'll go pick them up. You can either pay them or I can take a credit card and pay them. I just talked to Ross from superslide, he is going to get on here with some information for everyone.

Ted

Also I come to Fairbanks and Anchorage all the time so I can deliver them anywhere between Tok and those two places.

Just remember you are going to need some 1/2" for the tongues on your sleds. And if you want runners, the 1" is best.

Cool deal. I am in. Was thinking yesterday on resurrecting this thread now that I have some time. I wonder if we could some how get some partial sheets by going in on some together for runners and hitches.

I wasn't thinking about it earlier but Paul probably doesn't want Ross to post on here because it would be a commercial deal.
There are several things we are going to need for hitches and runners. If everyone just wants to post what they would want in addition we can get an idea what else we'll need. For example if we made our tongue 24" wide on one end and 4" long on the other and 4 feet long we could get 9 tongues out of a sheet with some pieces left over for the hitch so we could split the cost 9 ways. Also we could get 1" X 1" X 10' runners cut so we can get 12 out of a 12" X 10' peice etc. and split it however many ways. You remote guys I can drop yours off at air north in Anchorage or Everts in Fairbanks or whatever air service you use. I'll work with Ross at superslide and/or you can call him direct at 701-552-7525 and you can PM me for my number if you want to ask any questions. He did say the Blue Iron is what he usually sells up here for airboats and stuff and it is UV resistant.

I am interested in a 10 or 12 ft piece of the black 1/8th. Going to be used indoors. Just need to know the cost and where to send money. Bigger, the better for me.

It looks to me that since they are building a lot of bed liners and such they get a large variety of scraps. They have these listed here. At least that is what I am thinking since the odd sizes. Three different locations.
http://www.superslide.com/bispecials.php
This could provide some very economical hitches at 1/2 inch stock. Perhaps some additional odd sizes could be bought for extrea support on the tongue.
Here is a great example.
10 sheets 1/2" x 2" x 120" UHMW Blue Iron sheet
Location: Wisconsin Dells, WI $10 / sheet

Ted can you get us out a cost for 4 by 10 1/4 sheet of blue iron.
What is the longest sheet you could get into your van? I would even consider making a 12 foot sled.

Northway I would love to hear some more dialogue from you on your ideas. Now seems to be the time to order up.
Looking at building a multipurpose sled. Wood hauling/snow-machine retrieval.
For a big snowmachine what is the longest sled to consider. I know my crossfox gets small in a hurry when packing camp. Best to go with multiples sleds but what about a 12 foot bed?
Seems if we could put together a package of measurements that people could order. What is your idea of the best tongue measurements. length. If we went half inch as that is the thickest what would we need to reinforce a large tongue.

For comparison here is the measurements of the crossfox line of sleds sold by Northern sled works.
Cross Fox Sleds are available in three colors:
red, green and blue.

Three models are available: the 10' x 32" Standard Cross Fox,
the 8' x 32" Trapper Cross Fox, and the 6' x 32" Mini Cross Fox.

- Standard Cross Fox model measures 9'4" L x 32" W, and
has a flat bottom measuring 8' L x 24" W.
- Trapper Cross Fox model measures 7'4" L x 32" W, and
has a flat bottom measuring 6' L x 24" W.
- Mini Cross Fox model measures 5'4" L x 32" W, and has a
flat bottom measuring 4' L x 24" W.

Siglin Sleds are available

Three models are available: the 10' x 32" Standard Siglin, the
10' x 42" Wide Siglin, and the 5' X 32" Mini Siglin.

- Standard Siglin model measures 32" x 9'6" tip-to-tail, and
has a flat inside bottom measuring 24" x 8'.
- Wide Siglin model measures 42" x 9'6" tip-to-tail, and has
a flat inside bottom measuring 34" x 8'.
- Mini Siglin model measures 32" x 4'6" tip-to-tail, and has
a flat bottom measuring 24'' x 3'.

What do you need a slider board for? What you should make with it, is a shooter tutor. And show him how it stops pucks.

Len,

My idea of a sled/atv retrieval would be a piece 60" x 10'. That way you could bend up the sides and haul any snowmachine or atv out. Not sure if I'll have the $$ for a piece though.

We built one sled that would fit 5 action packers in it and then the other sled was built wider, but we haven't finished the wide ones yet.

Having seen the size of your garage I now see how this is going to work. You'll be 8' away letting go slappers...

I may not have been a goal scorer, but I sure knew how to shoot lots! Jeez...a common thread with me and "shooting".

I was gone yesterday on a tow call and Ross is out of the office today. Tommorrow I'll get a price on a 4' X 10' peice and post it. There hasn't been enough interest to get any kind of volume discount yet so it will be a by the sheet price

Len my truck is 10' but I can haul a 12' peice corner to corner.
