Thought I would post pics of some of the trapping tool I have made this summer. Lookin forward to usin them.

The axe is a Matt Jones special. I know it needs a handle yet but he used one of these on one of his videos and I liked the idea. Handy for step down dirt holes. I also made a groundhog tool. Gotta paint the head.


Next pic has my legholds, most of which I modified this year. I also made my own sifter and a catch pole. The catch pole I think is a little over kill. The bar is stainless but it was free. I think I could release a hippo with it. Hey LT, that kill pole and snare layin behind the traps look familiar?


Now here is a real speed tool! I made the front basket for carrying stuff I need to the set. I got the idea from Corky Klausing at the NTA when he did his coyote demo. It was very good by the way. I also made the rear cargo box that I can carry alot of gear in. I painted it with truck bed liner. I think it come out pretty slick. I gotta put a back rest bad on it yet. A man has to relax ya know.

That sifter is way, way too shallow. You'd be better off using the basket on the front of the ATV for a sifter.

Carbon stakes and carbon drowners really quickened the pace on the water line last season. I'll never go back to rebar.

Not all tools need to speed up the actual line/set making. I have found that some of my best time gains actually occcur in the furshed.

A few speed tools, in the shed, that really help me during the season are as follows:

Power skinner
ample freezer space
bench mounted tail stripper
bench mounted vise grips for skinning rats


These allow me to get fur off the carcass and stored quite fast. Helps me spend more time with family and sleeping. Which really aids me on the line the next day.

Jim Cundiff showed that coon pocket to me years a go at a fta convention. Not many coons around here never made any.

The ones he showed werenot painted. He said he use them boat trapping coon . But bait in which he use fish and use as a stake fot the trap never had to leave the boat fast too many rocks and low water where I trap. I don't know your name so it could be I did meet Jim at Lima these year while talking to Odon Corr

I agree, pre sifted dirt and peat moss was the biggest time saver for me as well.

Very true! All depends on the trapper using them!

I have a homemade trappers cap for my MB 650's as they don't make one for the extra large pan.

I have different hammers for different jobs on the trapline.

Nice Trappers cap. The Great thing is if it goes off, you might not get caught!
