Howler, don't think I'd have wanted to tackle the Tanana that day with my 300 Tundra, looks pretty iffy!! Even with no sled at about 100 ft
the little buggy is going down. Lot of good pictures, thanks for posting.

Wow that was cool. How deep was the water over the ice. You must have been getting some ground affect right? Seems you had no problem. Were you pulling a sled? Imagine not. The beginning looked hairy in that you could catch an edge easily and go over. Gnarly dude! Glad you made it back safely.
Not sure how to embed a contour video. this should be clickable anyways.

Are you using a goPro head cam? Amazing how the human head provides such a stable platform to film off of. It is fun to watch the windshield dart around in comparison to your head.

Thanks guys. The Skidoo problem was a faulty start switch. Under warranty, $170 switch. Better have an extra. Lucky it happened where it did or I'd have come unglued.
I didn't stop to see how deep the water was Len, guessing a couple feet over the white ice and no clue how deep in the dark spots, I left my sled and gear on the other side of the river. I would have never made it with it behind. Pretty proud of the ol trusty steed, never tried it that far before. Guess I'm buying her back, she's wants to come back home.
I was using a Contour Roam camera for the video with a headband mount. Pretty neat little camera.

Happy summer all. I just returned from a 40 mile hike out my trapline to the cabin. Wanted to do it and did. Flew across the river and began my journey. Found all sorts of little treasures along the way. Picked up 3 traps, 6 bungee cords, a bung wrench, pair of eye glasses, a hitch pin, handful of gas can lids, one moose antler, and my tripod shoe that I lost last winter. The bugs were unbelievable. Carried bug dope, Pics, and a bug suit, any of which I wouldn't have sold for a thousand dollars on the trail. Left the plane at 2:30pm on Friday and arrived at the cabin at noon on Sunday. Neat trip without the bugs. Walked most of it in Extra Tuffs. Not the correct footwear for that. My feet were a bit raw. The bear tried digging a squirrel out of my wood pile so that gave me something to do for awhile. Good trip overall. My buddy picked me up on Wednsday nite and we flew back to Fairbanks. Walked into my shop and it was Christmas, my shipment from Minnesota Trapline Supply was waiting for me. Got work to do before November now.

Thanks for sharing Howler. Very challenging trip for sure. Is there a summer landing spot close to your cabin ? Do you have a cleared & marked trail to sled in during trapping season?

Thanks guys, fun trip. Dirt, I got paid for this trip too, picked up six bungee cord and a bung wrench. Not well paid but paid in adventure just the same. Ron, I've got an airstip about a quarter mile downstream from the cabin on a gravel bar. Supercub strip that is, not very big. I sled in right from the truck to the cabin. My line starts at the truck.
Hope to fly out next week and build my shop and an outhouse. That will be fun. Thanks again.

very cool, if you don't mind me asking is your cabin on a trapper cabin permit, or we're you able to buy the land.
