I've got some coyote hides that have already dried, but stink to high heaven. They were washed two times with dawn and then rinsed in Downey. Anybody got any ideas to help with getting the stink out? I'm semding them off next week so there is not a lot of time.

If they are not mangy, and just rolled in something stinky, just send them. You won't be down graded because they stink! Once again unless they're mangy. Mangy yotes always stink and are not worth skinning-but I see a lot of guys do it. Learn the differance or do a lot of work for nothing! mad

They look good. They were caught late they were healthy. I'm going to try a borax bath today can't hurt anything!

Everything worked out OK. I had to borax them about three times to remove the smell.

I think all coyotes stink! I spray em down real good with raid - blue can, and leave in a trash bag for about a half hour. Kills any fleas and helps with the smell.

I had one that got an odor of decomposing flesh while it was in a Borox bath--probably cause the weather was unseasonably warm. I salted it down and that helped a lot (after several says).

Anyone use the powder people put in carpet before vacuuming, they make some specifically for pets odors

x2 on the tails. I did that on the first few I put up this year. Couldn't figure out what that smell was and then all of a sudden it occurred to me I forgot to split them. Also if you wash your coyote you should split the ears. The water gets down inside between the cartilage and the skin and that can rot too.

Don't do any of these things if you want to be able to sell them...Borax will help...
Salt or anything else will ruin them for the Raw fur market...

If you leave the ear cartilage in it can decay over time and smell real bad. Peel it out when skinning and use borax on them.
