Great job Northway! I'm already looking forward to next year, as much for the stories here as for my own season!

Thanks guys. Not a big enough dent, but any is more than none! Caribou have wreaked havoc on sets springing traps, etc. Hoping to get out there next year before the bou show up and hit them hard. We shall see! Plus buying a bunch of new snares from wilson jr. I am sold on the snares with the #9 wire. I have almost every snare I own set out. Time to renew the inventory!

Nice going Northway, i got into making snares in the off season. Enjoy making them knowing i can catch them from scratch. Also can custom make them. Is a thought, but luck catching with the necklaces bud.

Steve, just trying to knock some of the wolves out. I am sure I am catching some of those "unit 13" wolves that "feed" on the Nelchina caribou year round! Funny thing is before the Nelchina's started wintering out here, we were about 75% black wolves to 25% greys. Now since they have been wintering out here, it is about 90% greys to 10% blacks. Kind of sucks as I really like the black wolves a lot more than greys!

That's interesting. 75% would be sweet. I picked up a dark one this year and got to thinking about how rare they are for me on the islands. Started adding up the numbers and it works out to about 6%. I have heard on the mainland that guys runs about 25% black phase. I've only seen one wolf in the twenty five years I've paid attention to such things where every single hair was jet black though. You sure that isn't a german shepard?? Man some interesting colors there!

Holy smack down!!! Thats a cool looking Dog. BTW the last picture thats a big trap chain? :-) i found chain like that once and the local blacksmith loved it. Figured it was made in the 1920's based upon where it was found and what it used to be. Said it forged like butter. Anyways little off topic i guess. But yea Congrats on the unique looking Wolf.

Those wolves from down there are something else. I swear they must be part dog. Funny how even a black has brown legs. Calico wolves. LOL. Mike
