WTG on your first beaver
i remember watching my first beaver get shot but i am not sure if i remember my first in a trap..
if i remember right my first was in a snare under the ice but that was so long ago i have long forgot
i will be over around 9:30
did you want to learn how to clean skin or rough skin then flesh after?
i would show you how to skin with a moose bone but i hurt my shoulder today and i dont think i could take the pounding with the bone on the hide..
either way you should tan the hide and take castors out.. if you dont have a place for the meat i will take it home for you for next year..
nothing will go to waste on that bugger

There could be a band for several reasons. Quite a few avid blue bird nest box people band their offspring/ chicks to see their results of their work.
Just before the young birds disperse their legs are large enough to support a band. The people know by watching from when the eggs are laid when to go back and band.
Is that a numbered bird house from the people running a line from Brandon?

32 pounder is a 2 year old getting kicked out of home...
Get another trap back in there.. you should be able to get another 4,,, it should be good therapy for Countrys shoulder to work out helping you.

One way to get some close up pics of the blue bird is to place a rat carcuss close to a fence post. as the blue bottle flies come to it the blue bird will sit on the post and swoop down and catch them. The BB will be focused on dinner and not you 5 feet away. have your camera pre-focused by pressing the button then releasing slowly on the top of the post just before the bird comes back. After a series of pics you may be able to read the band numbers, and report the number through the web page. The last ones that I had banded the Blue bird colony was wiped out with the 1997 flood at Glenlea destroying all the nest structures that we had up. As far as I know they dont live 14 years.
The blury pics may be you are pulling the camera away before it has gone off. It does take a time to focus, then take a pic. Look to see what setting it is on, scenic. people or panoramic, it all means different when the camera is trying to self focus and especially with dimm light.

looks like you did a good job on the beaver
my arm is 95% better now so i can show you how to clean skin
but it is getting late for beaver hides
spend this time getting ready for next year
hmm and maybe finding some castor!!!

Went to my bait pile I started this spring two weeks ago I had beaver way in the bush when i went in to look at it I couldn't find the beaver so I walked back to the quad and it was sitting there in the grass. So something had dragged it out of the bush and licked it clean.
