I am intetested in finding some this spring. Any help with areas and other details to help me find some would be great. I have many miles of creeks in my area would the banks be a good place to start?

I find them in the wood lots .
Same places you might see Trilliums.

Are they in the low areas or more on the slopes?

I believe that Leeks and ramps are 2 seperate plant species. A ramp, to me, seems to taste like a cross between an onion and garlic.

Ramps = Wild Leeks

I have one hollow that I pick them in that is probably 200 yards long and 70 feet deep full almost the entire length of it.

I find lots of wild onions and garlic but no ramps. This will be the year!

I find them part way up the hills in the valleys around me, in predominately hardwood area. The more mix of hard and confirerous the fewer ramps I found.

Anyone know the laws on selling ramps from a farm stand in new york?

They've popped up here as of recent! Ate a few, but I think they were a little premature. I found most of them around river bottoms. yumm.

Jeremy, The ramps here are ready for eating now. They should be easy to find if you stumble into the right area.

Im going to look for some morels this weekend so maybe i'll get lucky.

Whats a good price for selling ramps?

see what green onions go for at the store. You dont want to sell them for nothin but you dont want to price yourself out of a sale.

How do you eat them?

they are used just like onion or garlic the tops and bulbs can be used. they are very good if you pickel them.

Keep an eye on them and in late summer look for the seed heads.
Early fall dig a few up and look at how big they are!

Make sure you have the right thing with an onion smell to it.
