Yeah they certainly don't want to waste any more energy than they need to. I sure hope we both don't have any more heavy snows.

Here are a couple of pics of the check on tuesday. First up is the wolverine tracks.

Put this otter set in where they were crawling under a big pile of snow. The 330 is wired to the rock.

Here is how we get all our fuel. Got 7000 gallons of diesel today, glad I don't get that bill! The truck is pretty cool, all 4 tires in front turn to steer.

Nice catches FH, I sure wouldn't want that fuel bill. I think it would scare the heck out of a person.

Ran the line today. Managed to pick up a mink and an otter at my first stop. The otter was caught in the set in the picture above. The mink was caught in a cubby about 20ft away. I also got an otter yesterday in one of my other otter sets but I didn't get any pictures.

Here is the mink-

And the otter-

The pics were taken after I dragged them out of the snow, both were buried. Had one set of wolverine tracks on the line but it wasn't interested in our sets.

Hank, is that mink set a flower pot pushed into the snow?

Man...If I didn't have wrestling tournaments all of March, I'd be on the water myself going after otters. The snow hasn't let up since I was out there in Dec. Hank? Gonna be a late breakup...spring bear should be later than usual. They shouldnt have any problems finding food I'm sure the deer are taking a hit right about now.

Keep at it, save a few for me next season!!!

Thanks guys, trying to keep at it. The snow hasn't really gotten any worse, it has been pretty warm lately so whatever we get settles pretty fast. Still sitting right at about 7ft on the snow stick. I have only seen one dead deer so far. March will be the true test for them I think. I am going to start moving my gear to otter sets here in the next couple of weeks. I haven't seen any marten sign since december.

Just got in from running the line. Pretty bumpy ride. Managed to catch another otter.

The boss gave us the afternoon off today, so I am headed out to check the otter sets and hopefully put in a few more. Not going to forget the camera this time!

No luck. Had some fresh sign at a couple of the spots, just didn't go through my sets. I was able to get a few more sets out too. Was a beautiful day today, perfect day to be on the water. Pics to come soon.

This has been my most productive set yet, 4 from this spot. Might not be pretty but it works. I have some otter lure on the stump next to the trap.

Here is another one of my spots, the otter have been going around this snowbank and they have been using a hole behind it.

The belisle is up front and there is a 280 in the back. When I pulled up to it today I saw this about 30ft away.

This is another spot I set up, the otters are moving through some holes through the snow.

Once again, I found this about 30ft over on the same beach...

Driving me nuts!

After studying T4E's otter thread, I would venture those trails and holes are dens, or heading to dens?

I am not sure AV. We are getting dumped on by snow right now, almost 20" in the past 24hrs. I am going to have to dig all these sets out on wed.....
