yes..
i will make a post later in the day after i get back from coon trapping..
i know i got it in a sheet about 3'x2' and its not really pvc.. it is plastic but its very very hard.. easy to machine still and should hold a fairly good edge..
i have made a beaver fleshing knife with the same stuff in the past.. made like the moose bone fleshing method

putting up a few of the coon i got this week and i had to pleat their tails to the max just so i could get the buggers on the boards..
all my boards are 48" long.
i dont think i had any coons over 27lbs this time..

do any of you guys run into this?? should i add a few inches to the board length??

ohhh yea i also got a sweet skinning machine today. i will post some pics of it later.

another year of learning done for my out east line.. i used most my time to try to catch a otter but never did, every time i made a set that looked great the ice would change... it would either drop a few inches to a few feet.. or it would freeze in.. sigh.. either way no otter.
i set some marten and fisher sets as i was in the area and did manage to trap some.. i have never had one before that was this orange, also the fisher was the first i ever had that had a fair amount of porky quills in it... those buggers sure have a rough life

Too bad about the Otters, you'll get em next year.

How many Marten did you catch?

I had a heck of a time trying to catch them. They didn't want to climb AT ALL lol

Only thing wrong with setting on the ground is the mice will be nice enough to find them.
Too bad the season has to end already, but now bring on the beaver and rats!

did not even try for them... i found some bobcat and lynx tracks but never even set them..

i had 3 goals this year
1 learn to trap rats out of a boat (never done that before)
2 trap a otter (hmm something for next year)
3 run a river line (never made the time for it but another thing for next year)

i trap purely as a hobby and a way to learn about trapping.. every year i have different goals...

In swift current there is a gun show every March. You should see the amount of 22 shells and 22 that get sold that wknd. Its crazy!

I live a little ways away from swift current but I know around here there are some pastures that you can siit on your but on a hill and shoot all day at gophers running around right infront of you. 500 gophers would probably be possible if you hunted very hard and all day . but overall there is an insane gopher population aaround here

the gopher population doesn't seem to be as high as it once was, but there is still lots. You better start stocking up on cases of 22 shells. You are going to need them!

finished my hotel job a month ago and i am back home for the year.. i have my work this year nice and close to home so that is nice for a change.

started this year off about as hard as i could think.. lost a great worker

and a week after lost a amazing uncle. (middle)

dont ever pass a chance to tell someone what they mean to you.

this weekend i went for a trip down the river to scout my coon line for this fall.. was very surprised to find a old elk shed.

notice the life jacket... if you see a pic of me this year not wearing them feel free to yell at me lots.
