Finally got out to run the line today. The weather was beautiful, clear and calm. Nothing doing at the first few I checked. Got to the furthest end north and I could see wolverine tracks everywhere in the snow, so naturally I got pretty excited. Beached the boat and walked up to the cubby, nothin. The wolverine didn't even check it out. Went over to the marten set nearby and the 120 was knocked out and the bait was gone. Wolverine tracks underneath it. I re-baited the marten set and put in a hanging bait set with a 750 underneath. I also added some rotten deer hide to the 330 cubby set that the wolverine ignored. We put a goose carcass in there a while back and thought it would work great, but all that we got was a marten.
Headed down to the next spot which is where we have gotten both our wolverines this year. Not much going on this time.
Move on down to the next set and I again immediately see wolverine tracks all over. Walked up to the first 330 cubby I can tell that its tripped. Some small critter got caught and the wolverine chewed on it, pulling the cable out straight. This is the third time this has happened here. I rebaited that cubby and reset it with a good amount of spruce boughs hanging over it to hopefully discourage any flying critters from getting in it again. Both marten sets were robbed by the wolverine so I rebaited those, also rebaited the other 330 cubby with rotten deer hide instead of a salmon carcass. I was seeing otter tracks go through for a bit but I haven't seen any more in over a month.
I head down to the spot where we got the lynx and I can immediately see a bunch of crows hanging out in the tree above the cubby. The last time that happened we had the lynx so I am pretty excited. There are also wolverine tracks all over the place. This is what I see when I walk up to it-

Sweet! Gulo #3 for the year. Decent sized male. I have a hanging bait set near the cubby but it was untouched. The marten set at this location was also robbed by a wolverine so I rebaited it. Seems to be a reoccurring pattern.....might have to move my marten sets up a little higher on the trees.
The tide was pretty high so I was able to get the boat up to where I found the otter holes. Had one come through the area but it didn't go into any of the holes. Hopefully it will be back.
Here are a couple more shots of the wolverine-

Next check is saturday, I hope they keep moving like they are!
