The wolverine went up to the bucket multiple times and hung around the site for a while before it took off.

Thanks for all the advice guys!! I am going to have to try something for when it returns.

We did pretty good on the deer today. We are pretty much tagged out now.

CHECK #3

Just got back from check #3. Not a whole lot going on the line. Picked up marten #3 in a different location as the first two. Little buggers robbed the wolverine cubby of its bait (didn't wire it in). Caught this guy in a newspaper box that was nearby.

A couple spots later checked our sets and nothing was in them. Found these tracks about 40 yards away from our cubby. Didn't come over to check it out though. Going to have to try some stinky bait and see if that grabs its attention.

So far we have seen fresh wolverine sign on every check.

Your in some of the best wolverine country I've ever encountered. I sent you a PM that I may be able to offer some advice. I trapped out in PWS several years ago and did very well on wolverine and marten. We never had a single check without fresh wolverine sign. Tough weather conditions where we were though.

Looks like a good spot for a snare or two behind the bucket.........

AV I put a 280 to the left of the bucket. The snow has built up to where that small log goes behind the bucket. The wolverine went right through there to get to the back. A member here said he will send me a couple of MB750's to borrow so I am planning on putting in one of Ken's hanging bait sets eventually. There is the perfect spot for one right about where the picture was taken from.

Nice deer Hank! We tried it Friday but couldn't get to where we hunted a few weeks ago due to forecast winds. Went in to a different area and saw a lot of bucks, but they were real spooky and headed up hill as soon as we approached the beach. One of my buddies did manage to put a stalk on a couple but got busted at about 15 yards before he could draw his bow. That was the end of that. I ended UP putting a spike on the meat pole at the end of the day and that was it for us. We'll try again in a week or so. Keep up the great journal!

I am finally done deer hunting so I can now focus on trapping. All 3 bucks were on does. After we popped the bucks the does just milled around. The 2 bucks on the outside were both shot on the same beach. The bigger one was shot first, and the smaller buck jumped into the brush. After about a minute it came right back out onto the beach and started chasing does again. Dummy. Two does stood and watched my buddies gut their deer and they went right back to eating seaweed, never left the beach the whole time.

The next check is wed so stay tuned!

Picked up gulo #2. No on location pics but once my internet gets better I will upload one or two. Another female, should I be worried?? That is 2 females out of the same set. Reaching out to the guys that get a bunch of wolverines for some advice, do you shut down your lines if you get a bunch of females??

Good for you!

Looks like the small female matches the beard on that large male.

Don't worry. There are likely more around. Can't imagine one guy (2) with just a few sets will impact the overall gulo pop.

When I trapped some of the same country (or close), we always pulled a drainage after two females. But not saying thats a must. Just what we did. We caught about 80% males. In my opinion that particular area is vulnerable to over trapping, because if you set the right drainages correctly, you'll incounter almost every wolverine that is running the mountain on that side of the bay. Due to it being a pinch point. So thats the reasoning for doing things the way we did. At least if your going to trap it every year.

I thought it was smaller in the body as the first one, I just dont want the population to get hammered.
