Made it back from the Beautiful Alaska Range this evening. Had a great trip on the line even without any wolves hanging. Spent Christmas evening skinning and stretching marten. Picked up 13 marten and 2 lynx. Got some work on the cabin done and a few more sets out. Put a wolverine milk crate cubby out at the end of my line last nite and couldn't remember if I'd taken the safeties off. Looked at the pics of the set on my camera and... Nope. Gotta love technology. Went up there first thing this morn and picked up a nice female lynx along the way in a cubby. Flipped the safeties off and hurrying back down the trail, I clipped a rock and bent my left trailing arm on the WT. A first for me and don't wanna do this again. Cannot seem to find a wolf kill around my line. They gotta be eating something. Seen a few moose, picked up a shed antler and run into a mess of Russian moose hunters. Six hunters with six moose and not a decent snowmachine or sled amongst them. I ran into them again on Christmas day in ol Stan "The Mule Man's" cabin. They said they couldn't get across the Tanana River. It was just overflow. I ran the WT across empty then came back for the sled. They didn't have such good luck or maybe they just weren't geared up and prepared. Some people just shouldn't leave the safety of street light and asphalt. Came back across this evening and the overflow was froze up solid. A happy trapper crossed the Tanana.
