ok seems everyone is catching otters in dirt holes around the toilets ,,do you all cover the trap like k-9s or leave exposed in the trap bed?


you just cant fix stupid!!!!! not even with duck tape

bed it like a K-9 set remember an otter has a really long neck so You will need to set you trap back a ways from the dirt hole

yep,,,, the only thing i have for them that i would trust in holding is a #4 4x4 coil is that too much over kill?

No its not overkill , I have held em in a good strong #2 four coiled,Many have been caught and held in #11. I would suggest a strong anchoring with plenty of swivels if you cant drown em. Otters are really strong and will twist and roll like a snake. Also like a canine set,use the same dirt for your remake. and have others traps bedded nearby,Otter often travel in groups of 2 or more. I have noticed where at least one or milled all around the otter I had in my trap.

A 1.5 coilspring is plenty of trap if you give him a little length from your stake. He will stay all the way to the end and go in circles. Swivels are important because of the rolling.
