I finally made it out on the line and got some gear in the field. 2 and half days to get to the cabin, 39 miles! Skinny snow, deep creek crossings, overflow, rotten ice and pulling double sleds, it was rough but fun. Put out a couple baits, got quite a few sets out, snares hung and even picked up some fur on the ride back out. 2 1/2 hours to get across this

I wouldn't have a problem coming off, but I need to go back up too. I like to do trail maintanence on the trip in knowing I can come back out. You'll have to bring that New Bearcat out and show me how to do it. Good luck this weekend and keep yer track down and watch yer top knot.

Picked up a few more traps and gear last week. 45 degrees and rained, probably put everything out of commision on the line. Time to go over some gear before heading out on the line for a week. Flipped over one of my sleds and this is what I found. I thought they were just heavy sleds pulling double. Gotta love that power of the WT. I'll get this fixed and do it again. Good luck and be safe to all.

Len, I build the sleds in my shop. I put the full length 1 inch runners and skags on everyone I build. They track like a dart with skags until they look like that.

Well, made off the line. 6 days in the mountains does the mind and soul good. I finally got some well needed snow and the wind took it away just as fast as it came. Picked up 14 marten, 2 weasels, 1 lynx, half a red fox, and a half of a wolf tail. I caught a wolf by it's tail in a fox snare. It looked like it held for quite some time before 4 inches of his tail turned loose. I most be doin something wrong. The marten and weasels had my 3 wolverine baits polished off clean. I guess I'll have to start trying to catch the marten. I only seen one lynx track and he ate 2 marten out of lynx cubbies. Caught him Monday on a remake where he ate a marten. Got some finish work done on the cabin and hauled in a couple loads of firewood. The coyotes outsmarted me again. On the way out today, the ice dropped out from under me and left me in a pickle. Ended up tearing the tougue off one of my sleds. Back to the cabin with the heavy gear, piggy back the sled and off down the trail. THERE'S A FEW THING YA NEVER TAKE OUT OF YER SLED OR OFF YER MACHINE- warm gear, axe, rope a long and rope, fire starter, firearm, tools, shovel, and YER WOLF GEAR. So back down the trail I go only to cross paths with the big pack of wolves out in the flats! I didn't have a single #9 on board and I got tracks everywhere. I guess I'll come back next week and leave them a whole lot of Christmas presents. Live and learn.

Glad you are safe!
Wow what an adventure... some day... I want to do a real line and trip like that.
Sure some of the "misses" and "off-targets" were frustrating, but your story is compelling and awesome!

That cabin is nice. Did you haul that stuff up in the winter or can you get there by boat?

On the sleds, is it open water under that ice? Could you unpack everything?

A long rope?

We've had that happen, just never with a sled or snowmachine in it.....

Nice work on the critters.
