"My Mentor"
"Watch your step" he said as he chuckled.
As i tripped on a log and fell to the ground.
His voice echoed through my head
As it started to pound.
He taught me to understand the outdoors.
How to live WITH it, not in it.
He said stop moving so fast.
if something moves, you might miss it.
His lessons of trapping, hunting and fishing,
Were simple lessons of life
That some people are missing.
I thank the lord every day for my blessing,
And the time that was spent when he was around.
doing the things that required no stressing.
Everything that I do in my life still today
Takes me back to his words that I heard each day.
As I lay on the ground after I fell once again,
I still hear his laughs and his words in my head.
