I use my cat grabbers alot more than my catch pole. The catch pole I have is a telescoping one that goes out to 12 ft. with a cable spool on it for long grabs. I made that back about 5 yrs ago, and it gets used about 3 times a year. But its there when I need it.

I like the 5 foot long Ketch-all pole. One good source is at http://www.wildlifecontrolsupplies.com/M...ry_Code=NWSACCR

However, many of the trapping supply distributors also carry them as well as other designs of catch poles..

I have different sizes but use a 3-4' model catch pole the most. I like working close for control. If your pole is to long you will not have the control especially on a coyote sized animal.

A Ketch all pole is a good model for general nuisance wildlife work. For alot of fox and coyote work I prefer a more rigid pole that I made years ago. Got the prototype from a fella that passed on a few years back.

It is very simple. Its made of a stainless steel pipe , a two holed end cap and a clothes line tightner end. Not too difficult to build once you get the right pieces of material. I just carry extra clothes line tighteners in the event one gets worn out. You can buy these usually at Lowes or Home Depot.

I dont have any pics of the pole close up I dont think. If I get the time to shoot some pics I will.

That pic is from MN Trapline. There it is 21.95. I think the Snare shop is sold out and probably not getting any new .

I have one like that and it is a good tool, I like the rotating head design on the Ketch-all or is it Thompson that I have? I do not remember I will have to look and update this post when I can remember.

LOL, I like the one I have which ever it is.

I think that this is the lock that Bob J. mentioned.

Although they were designed for tightening clothes lines, I have found many other uses for them. They hold well on wire, cable or small diameter rope. Don’t buy just one!

Here is some of the catch poles that I use. They are easy to make to fit just about any size animal or situation. I have used them to catch animals from the size of small lizards to alligators to coyotes, bobcats, beavers, and otters. I have actually used them for their original purpose; catching pigs. I don’t know if I would want to use one on an adult bear or mountain lion though.

This is a closer view of some of the lock systems. Couldn’t find the one with the clothes line tightener; must have loaned it out. Why don’t folks return what they borrow?

And this is the business end. Of course, there are other ways to design this too.

You always seem to have the props or photos to support a good thread. Yes that is the device I was referring to.It is a very good practice to purchase several at a time just to keep in the event you need a spare or spares.

We all appreciate your time, effort and willingness to share with others.

Thank you from the gang.........

Bob J.-
Thanks for the good words, but--be careful. Today I finally figured out how to convert a VHS tape or a download from my old camcorder into a DVD. Now if I can only figure out how to upload parts of the DVD to Photobucket or You Tube. These old brain cells don’t work as good as they once may have. To me, a picture is worth a lot more than a thousand words.

One thing I have found with the catch poles I have made is ....that if you don't reopen them to the loop that I desire.......the wire will develop a memory to the size that it is left at.......maybe I am just not using the right wire product....

My poles are made out of a piece of aluminum pipe (quick connect "concrete float" handle....very light and strong) a nut for a wire stop and some VCed cable....Nothing "fancy" .......I attached like Ron did...by drilling a hole...Like his closeup of the bottom pole.....I like the loop that you end up with.....

Vinke-
I can't even spell (copy and paste) "website". My cell phone service can't even retrieve messages, from my business phone number, from a town 10 miles away. And here you are

The call phone was the fastest reliable internet option were I am located, at a resonable price.....cable compony wanted 2500 to run wire, no dsl here and satalite has problem with the clouds.....the cell phone acts as a modem using a bluetooth connection for a "wireless" connection for my laptop to the internet. ($15.95 unlimited acsess) I like it because I can take it with me and use the internet in the truck for maps and information.
