Not knocking the idea... - just wouldnt want to rebuild this time after time catching coons

If you don't want to remake a set, wouldn't a slide be a way to achieve that?
Whether it just takes the critter away, or down into the drink, doesn't make much difference, either way he wouldn't be able to tear up an otherwise bombproof set.

If a set that looks like this encourages trap thieves, in your area, I feel sorry for you.

Deerhunter,

Thanks for yet another of your step by step posts.

Keep 'em comin'! \:\)

Tried sets just like that around the pond, and on parts of the creeks, and they are awesome, only thing is carrying the pipe, but if you make them preseason, it won't hurt to take your time and set them and work them out over a distance, then off season, just leave them there.... once they are set, they are set,

Great poast the others can say all they want but after looking this the young ones can see what a bank set needs to look like with pipe or with out. ;\)

Nice set, but just one suggestion...

I've used a similar set up when I can't dig a hole for a traditional pocket.

I learned I need to somehow anchor that pipe. I trap creeks with decent flow and lost some pipe when the coons tore up the set.

Sometimes just a short piece of wire to keep it in the set area. Sometimes pinned down with rocks or logs.

Here's another version.

http://thebeav.topcities.com/fall03/fall03.html#pvc

I like my pipe to be vertical so If you have a raise In the water level your set Is still operational. And the white pipe gives you good eye appeal which Is more Important In coon trapping then a good bait or lure.

Beav you should post that here for the young trappers thats a great set up i use beaver castor in a set like yours and take many beaver in shallow water with the sleepy creek 4.5. Once again you should post that here to. I like it.

Kre a rebar T stake in the back of pipe would do wonders for remakes. It will definately keep the coon from tearing it all up when they dont go down drowner.

Yep...that'll work too. Anything to keep it from going into the water and drifting away.

Although, it doesn't look like anything could drift away in that water from your photo!! \:\)

That duck weed is killer stuff a lure will just float on top. Forget catfishing it wont make it bast the weeds.
