ADC - for a double long spring compress one spring and secure with a U-Grip or small C clamp. Do the same with the other spring. Then replace jaws as shown above or with the bar clamp that I mentioned. Release spings and you are done.

I did this on some #3 double longs and it works great.

Those clamps look safer than just a regular vise, I've had the jaw fly out and bout take an ear off. I always wear goggles since.
