around here we have a lot of what we call feeder springs little 8 to 12 in. springs that run a long way to the big creeks 110 set in them usally good for a couple of mink

You have a couple of great videos out Eric. Very informative! Many videos show/tell a viewer HOW to do something but you go on and explain WHY. Very important difference in my opinion.

The duke 1/2 coils are nice but I but some old victor long spring 1.5's and I like them a lot because there easy to set. I tried duke 12o;s instead of duke 11o's this year and they worked alot better. A more human kill. I caught the biggest mink I have ever seen in person this year and it moved the 120 coni about a foot. Glad he wasnt in a 110.

Wire loops or circle triggers are a must for mink on conibears. I bet everybody would be surprised to see the number of large male mink that I have caught by the hind quarters even with wire loops.

Any Oklahoma mink trappers out there? I've heard there aren't many around here. Just wondering if yall had any input. Kinda wonderin how to trap since conibears and snares are illegal.

and what about scent..with they leave the set due to human scent?

I like to runs lots and LOTS of BLIND SETS. Sometimes they take longer to find than to simply just dig either a standard pocket of elbow pocket but if you know anything about a mink's habits is that they run endlessly and although they do tend to look in every hole they come across they don't particularly have the best sense of smell which lowers the effectiveness of most lures and baits, then to top it all off they like "fresh" bait at all times. Fresh means time. Time is valuable to us longliners,so while They love to catch their own meals, why not just take advantage of that and put traps between them and their food? A simple 1 1/2 coil and a couple stepping sticks to slow em down and they'll be there waiting.

been trying to trap my first mink for about 3 weeks now. I just found a very nice buck in the road yesterday that wasnt hurt any at all. Heck he was still warm when I skinned him out. Thets the first mink Ive ever laid my hands on. He was crossing at a 4 foot diameter culvert heading towards a double 10' x 4' culvert going under a big hwy. This things like 300-400 foot long. I decided to check out the culvert he was heading to and lots of sign in there. Many tracks, some mink skat and all. Being my first time in a gauranteed minky location how do I efficiently catch one? The waters as shallow as 1-2 " in locations. One of the culverts I have a foothold in less than an inch of water on both sides tight against the wall. The other side I have a 110 bmi on a conistabilizer attatched to a 1x6 on each wall. I have put lean sticks over the traps against the wall, is this overkill or is this necessary? Also what if I made a tunnel so to speak and stuck it in there too on dry part of the culvert? Thanks in advance

from a beginner to a beginner. blind set the sides with foot holds or conis. i would use 1.5 coils tied to a cinder block for a drag/ weight. thats is just what i have been told by some of the pros.
