Where is that in the regulations.

The only thing legal to snare is beaver.

Otters don,t have a hard skull. The trap wacked him in the head, killing him.

Kirk...

Post some pics here, we all know you've caught your fair share of otter. Can only imagine you have seen some pretty weird caught otters.

I believe by looking at the shiny pattern on the leaves, the trap was moved. Notice how wet the otter looks compared to the ground. Just the way the leaf looks in the background indicates it was just in the water.

Yea , it was fully submerged. I pulled it out for a pic. Seems like he would have been deeper in the trap to have set it off. It was set with trigger on top.

I know of a couple otter crossovers that I would like to trap but I want to use a 160 due to them being on public land. I could use foot holds but I don't want to check every day and snares are not allowed, 160 is largest bodygrip allowed on land. I have some KB stabilizers and a three Belise 160's. There are two areas where the trail is narrow enough for these traps. I also thought about using a 2x6 with screws spaced for the jaws to pinch on might work as a stabilizer as well. I also have some BMI 160's and Bridger 160's
I was wondering if the trap should be raised more than that for an otter or is the KB stabilizer or the 2x6 the right height?
