Will it take paint off traps? I know it does rust and speed dip, anybody try it? Really want to stay away from the paint thinner if I can.

hey Ford
I tryed this before and I couldn't get it to take it off Rust yes but not paint . I use zip strip on some I bought from this kid off here and !!what a job!! I brushed it on and wiped it off with Rags this is why I don't under stand why peeps paint traps
I feel it is a lame way to color then . But I don't know to many long liners trappers who do this to a good trap. I think if the peep who paints these had to clean them they might think twice before doing it .

Im WATCHIN YOU & !!LOCKED & LOADED !!

This is the first time I bought traps with paint on them,I don't paint mine either but I do speed dip them, which some people do not like so I can't complain how they prep there own traps.
You guys think I could dip them the way they are?

Break out the paint thinner and get it over with or you could try the vinigar method. I dunno how good it works. I know that gas or lantern fuel takes off speed dip. you Might want to give one of those a try. If all else fails dip them in paint this coming season or sell them and let the next person deal with it. ~Dan~

A friend of mine gave me a few dozen #1 longsprings that were rusted up pretty bad and a few of them had orange paint on them. I soaked them in vinager for a few days and the paint softend up and I was able to scrape of some of it but not all of it. I think paint thinner would be the way to go though. The vinager did a great job on the rust.

Just dip over it would be my opinion. I have used Formula 1 right over painted traps I bought with no adverse affects whatsoever.

Just dip them in brake fluid for while. Wash with water hose and dip again if not clean.
