Every year I have people call that have had skunks spraying under their homes and the house is almost unbearable to live in. They ask what they can do to get rid of the odor, but I just don't know what to tell them, as I haven't found anything that works well enough.

It's mid-winter, 10-30 degrees everyday, so simply opening windows to air out is out of the question. When a skunk sprays in a confined space, such as a crawl space or under a trailor, where you can't airflow to, it just lingers for long time and seeps up through the floor and into the home. I would like to be able to help these people get rid of the odor, as I know it must make for some awful living conditions.

What do you guys use to neutralize/deodorize skunk odors that actually works inside the home??

Thanks.

This sounds crazy....but it works.

Coffee...fresh coffee put into a flat container and placed through the affected area. It will over power the smell but also absorb it.

I have gotten many jobs by advising the home owners to do this right away. Never have had a complaint of it not working.

We have actually had pretty good luck using an ozone machine. You have to prep the house really well before using the machine making sure it is as air tight as possible.

Has anyone ever tried this? http://www.wildlifecontrolsupplies.com/M...ry_Code=NWS0100

If it works, a fogger would be nice. Put a can in a crawl space and let it go. It claims to work for skunk odor removal. I did a Goggle search to find reviews, but haven't found any. I might call the company on Monday and see what they say. Maybe I'll buy a can and test it out.

What has worked for me is to have the cust boil vinegar on the stove with a cinnamon stick in it. just get it so the home smells like the vin and cinnamon. I learned it when my son skinned a skunk and the sack broke got all over his clothes with out thinking he put the clothes in the basement oh man that was bad the vin did the job that was 3 years ago and telling cust ever since they all come back with it really helps.

a gallon of straight vin

What about the skunk "Recipe" in a sprayer and soak the area.

what works for me is the negative air machine. it pumps the air out of the under side of the home, to the outside instead of it coming up through the floor. Leave it there 3 weeks and its all over. I charge 600 bucks for it and people love it!

I have used the D brand 5oz fogger. It works but you have to be careful. Some of the ingrediants are propane and butane. In winter when the furnace is running I really hesitate to use it. Also the fogger scent lingers for days and even weeks. Don't use it unless the occupants can stay in a motel for a few days.
