How do you coon trappers set-up the chains on your coon traps. Center swivel length of chain, how many swivel's were are they located etc any other tips to make me a better coon trapper. I had quite a few pull out's this past season and I think this might be the culprit. Also how do you like to fasten your traps solid or with a drag Thanks

I just stick a rebar stake through the chain and pound it into the ground. Haven't had a problem.

Stock chain plus 18 inches of extra with mid point swivle and a box swivle at the end. 15 inches of 3/32 cable and a 2 inch pogo anchor. Staked soild into the bottom or bank whichever holds best.

When I dont drown them I usually drag them. A #11 with 7' of chain and a good drag. Keep in mind I live and trap around the thick stuff. Coon dont go far. I dont really have to look for them, there usually within a few feet of the set. Sometimes i just go ahead and prehook the drag.

I have had an Issue sometimes when trapping creeks nothing to wire to and water to shallow so I have been carrying short pices of cable with me 6 to 8 feet to tie off to a tree..saves on wire and can be reused or trasnsported to a new set..At the end of each cable I use heavy snap swivels that lock..kinda like on a dog leed...they weigh nothing and can carry 10 in my pack with no problem....

I'm starting to like the Lil'grizz's more and more, swiveled on an 8" chain, staked. No loses on 'coons yet.
