The daughter goes with it for a price!

No foot control on this one. The winch is off of my 4 wheeler and the switch is on the end of the motor. Works for me better then a greasy foot trying to push on a pedal.

For coyotes I would build the next one a little taller. This one pulls big coyotes down to the ears and runs out of room. I can make one in a day.

no pic here but i got a 1500 lbs 12 winch for a fourwheeler mounted up in the rafters and i think it works about as perfect as i could ask for. just the right speed and pulls nice and strong. the winch came from menards for 45 bucks.

Anyone that owns a gun and votes democrat deserves to have there gun taken, cause they truly are too stupid to own a gun.

Scott my daughter loves Wyoming, she might take you up on it. She won't be with me on the way thru though. Just DC Jr. and he runs it faster then I can.

"the daughter goes with it for price" LOL

Nice!

Mine looks a lot like Dead Coyote's except that his is more of a stand-alone unit where mine does not have a large neough base so it needs to be attached to the wall. Mine lso needs to be lengthened for Coyotes.

My winch is also a 110v unit mounted at the top so it is a straight pull. I started with a 12v winch but it burned up on the first pull!

My main gambrel is a hook style, but I also have a chain unit just in case.

The manufactor of this machine was at a convention I attended once. I looked it over pretty good. He went at the design and building process with a completely different ideas. Seems well made and of industrial materials like motors, switches etc.........but has anyone seen one of these in operation? He wasn't doing demos? I probably would have bought one had I been able to see it in operation even though it is more expensive than the more traditional ones.

What coke said.

You open him up, pull the tail then pull enough of the legs down so you can double the hide up and only clmp on the inside, not on the hair.

pinch some skin in the clamp then start pulling!

I'll admit I tore the first one I did in 1/2 as I was going way too fast and didn't slow up when I hit the front legs. Didn't hurt the hide at all but guts spilled out all over the place! lol

Mine is made from 2.5 in exhast tubing. Its about 10ft high and 4ft wide. The winch is mounted to the side, you can see the cable comming down. Its only mounted to the side because I wanted the extra height for skinnig coyotes. The hand contol is mounted to the side but I also wired im a foot controled switch in that I use 99% of the time. The hide is held in a cam action type clamp, you just open drop the tail and leg hide in and pull. With the cam action the harder you pull the tighter it gets. I have changed it to were the clamp is foot operated also. I dont use the gambrel in the pic with the skinning machine any more I use the one in the pic with the hide clamp. You just drop the one leg in each V just above the ankle and pull. The are two sets of Vs, one for small legs and one for larger legs.

RR3 I like the clamp set up and the looks of the second gambrel. it may help solve some of the height problems for others.

thanks for sharing

Yes could lower it and get a better grip but its faster if you dont have to.

Scott I think the bigger issue is what are you skinning the most of, if you are skinning alot more yotes-cats then I would def. use a roller type, if you are doing mainly coon I would use the clamp type or make an interchangeable. I have appx 25-30,000 coon at least and I had best luck with a roller type but seperate rollers (to short rollers on each side similar idea as the clamps, was quicker and easier I thought, (I will try to get pics tonight to ya) But yotes we had a roller type that I loved more like you see above it worked better because you could reattach as needed. The coon with clamps you have less stress on your shoulders and hands 'cause you only have to open a short leg flap on each side, but that does not work well for yotes in my experience

actually the design I used was the furbuyer BigT works with, maybe he could shoot a pic of Ed's old skinner he originally made, it was a coyote skinning machine.

nice designs

I am not mechanically inclined and can not look at a picture and figure things out. I was wondering if anybody could post where one can obtain plans to build these systems.

Here's some or my designs...

Below is a picture of my Original Skinning Machine Base and RTS Speed Gambrel Combo.

Skinning Machines are used to make skinning raccoons and coyotes easy but they really help on otter and other tough to pull critters. (see videos below) It really saves on your body allowing you more time and energy to set/tend more traps. They pay for themselves in no time.

These bases are designed to be mounted to your concrete or wooden floor. They install in minutes with just two 1/2" lag screws or cement wedge anchor bolts.

Bases of all my machines swivel so as to allow you access to all sides of the animals while being placed close to the wall and saving the precious space in your fur shed.

RTS Speed Gambrels swivel to prevent twisting cables on your hoist and they are designed to fit the hooks that come standard on most hoists/winches.*

All my skinners can be used in conjunction with an electric hoist (suggested), 12v. winch, or boat trailer type manual winch. Simply mount your hoist above the base and you're ready to skin.

----------------------

Below is my Complete Skinning Machine, this skinner adjusts from 6 1/2' - 11' high, includes the 110V electric hoist, and RTS Speed Gambrel

----------------------

The Wall/Pole/Post/Horizontal Skinner (pictured below) mounts to your wall, post, or pole, or horizontally on a bench, includes the wall mounted base, hoist mounting bracket, and RTS Speed Gambrel.

*With this gambrel, you don't have to worry about not cutting into the tendons, and works for all your typical furbearers that you'd use a skinning machine for. You just hook the ankle into the slot and you're good to go.

This video below shows just how I use the skinning machine ...

The fast version, (raccoon skinning 1 minute, 21 seconds)...

Here's a short clip on skinning a coyote as well...

--------------------------------

Bench Mounted Grip & Mink Spike Combo

Here's a picture...

Click on the video below to see how they work on mink... (they also hold coons, rats, etc... for opening or skinning)...

Can't see bothering with a machine for coon, unless your doing them all day long. I just wrap the tail around my right hand and stick my knee just above the tail, hop up there and ride it all the way down to the shoulders. By the time you are clamping in the hide, I/ve got the legs out and onto the ears. Coon peel like grapes, IMO.

Coyotes...A different story, there. I can see the use for a machine with coyotes...Hate em.

Mine is one of the old Ron Hansen designs. I chainged out the washing machine parts and put in a reg. winch from harbor freight. It only uses one vise grip clamped to the base of the tail. It has a foot control for hands free skinning, the only way to go. Its a dream on coyotes. I can do 25 coon an hour on mine. I can have my son text you some pics if you would like. YOu could build one yourself fro prolly under 150 dollars. Hope this helps. Right now, I'm working on one to hook up to the truck bumper and skin in the field.

Scott here is my rig. Pretty much the same as most others accept I use cable loops to hold the feet instead of a gambrel. Problem I had with a gambrel was I tend to cut the tendons and than there was nothing for the gambrel hooks to hold. Mine is adjustable and is currently set at 10 feet. I have skinned some pretty big coyotes on it and haven't hit the pulley yet.

I like the cable loops too.I usually open them up without cutting the tendons anyway but I'm not always that careful.

I use either cable loops or choke chains. I like the chains better easier to attach to the foot, but they don't hold up as good as cable.

I was going to switch to chain until I heard that. I figured the chain would last longer.

This is what I use on my skinning machine to hang the critters. I skin the legs out first before I hang them up.

Will you come skin for me next fall? I'm not that good ADC. When I get that knife fly'in I bet I cut the tendons on every other one.
