i will zero my scale and try it again, it is my heaviest yet this year, maybe it sounds heavy because you have only caught 2 of them. smile

LOL !! I've caught more than two,. but only two in the last 29 years.

The professional literature says an adult male can weigh UP TO 22 pounds +/- 1.4 pounds that's why your report is so surprising to me.

43 pounds would be huge even for a dense animal like a wolverine.

Well it helps if you start your scale off at zero, i just went to the shed and reweighed it and White your right it only wieghed 24lbs 12 oz. that seems more realistic. So this would be an decent size lynx?

Yeah I can see where that would make a difference. LOL!

I would say you are right at the upper end of the weight range for lynx.

I got a big ol' heavy one outside that I'll weigh and measure the hide in the board to see.

W17- this big lynx is currently being sculpted into the leader of me "fog
team".

I'd like to think I measure fairly accurate on the carcass. I use a sting and make sure it's tight and try to follow contours. Does me no favors to BS about the size when selling for Taxidermy, as it will ruin one's reputation.

Just walked outside and weighed the carcass. It was 24lbs (w/o fur). I think I measured him at 37" on the round and his hide on the board was right at 44" (and not pulled tight).

Pic of hide on board:

However, this was by NO MEANS the biggest I've handled/caught. Last year we had a monster:

W17- my "sled" fell through so I might have to make an investment just to make this "scene" happen. Sheesh, what some will do for a chuckle!

My cats this year have all been between 32"-33.5" in the round, weighed between 22-24 lbs. All mature adults I guess. One measured 42" on the board. I figured if you got one that measured 38 in the round he would probably go about 50 on the board.

Matt your shed is looking a mite crowded!

Alaskan....string streaches...(I tried it also)
and that is a BIG Cat you have there, but I see you have a coyote streacher that leaves a rather pointy head, you are gaining inches there as well..I sugest you get one of the plastic tapes like in this pic and resmeasure everything twice...you can double check your measurments on the carcase, after skinning,it will tell you the true carcase measurment, thats what they want anyway

I'm with Jeff on size. A plastic tape will give a more accurate measurement.................and you will be awfully lucky to find one over 37 in. from nose to base of tail.
Kinda like those 150 pound wolves that everyone seems to have seen.

I have a cat on the stretcher right now that weighed 34 pounds on the scale. It is on the stretcher at 45 inches NTB and 8 inches wide at the hips.
