I'm happy. Today I paid for a 22 handgun. It's a revolver. It'll make a great trapline gun. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I'm only a lad yet, one of my parents will have to go get a permit to carry before they can pick it up for me. That could take 2 weeks. But it's paid for and in layaway until they've got the permit! I can't wait to shoot it.

Cool, I think I am going to buy a .17 HMR Marlin for predator hunting. Anyone have any experience with this gun?

Well I have been reading that the gun has a bigger bullet then a reg. .22 or .22 mag and have heard from a few guys its a great predator gun at a nice price (around $230 for the one I want to buy) and it says on the site it comes out at close to 3000 fps and only drops about an inch in 150 yards.

The folks only need a " Permit to purchase" in order to buy a handgun. Apply at the Sheriff and permits are mailed out.

Those who do apply for and complete the 8 hour course and our given a " Concealed Weapons Permit" can buy handguns as long as there C.C. permit is Valid. I believe current MN C.C. permits our good for 5 years.

To be honest a .22 or.17 rifle would serve your needs as well or better. Until you are 18 you can not carry a pistol alone in the woods anyway.

You might want to read the laws in your state. As I read it they have to have the permit to buy, and when your of age you will have to have a permit to carry it. Here is the link I was reading.

No permit is needed to carry a Pistol in the field in MN but you must be 18 years of age to be in the woods alone with one.

A C.C. permit is needed to carry a uncased loaded Pistol in the your vehicle while traveling between sets. If you unload and case a Pistol and place the gun in the locked trunk out of reach, with ammo separate from the gun you are legal , as long as you are 21 or over.

A permit to carry is not required of a person -

(d) to carry a pistol in the woods or fields or upon the waters of this state for the purpose of
hunting or of target shooting in a safe area; or
(e) to transport a pistol in a motor vehicle, snowmobile or boat if the pistol is unloaded,
contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, or securely tied package.
