lenni, do you baseplate the 1.5s or bubble weld the jaws. i was planning on getting some for fox but there is the occasional yote around too.

no i bend the tips up. that also brings the jaws tighter together and takes some of the slop out of them outta the box

My newest and best location that I have found is a High-tension line that runs through the farms I am on. It cuts through woods too. Runs North/South, and disappears past the horizon. Talk about a long running barrier for the k9's to travel!! I will hopefully posting both yote and grey fox pics come january.

Well my pre-baiting worked. I made some large style dirt holes in the summer with a slight step down in front of the hole. I baited them with woodchuck or tainted venison.

Here is a picture of one I baited with venison during the summer. I dropped in a little more venison this week and bedded a MB 550 in the step down.

Here is what was waiting for me this morning. 11.2 lbs
Notice he is wearing a MB-550

If using the Duke 1.5's for K9's I HIGHLY suggest changing the J-hooks to 6 gauge J hooks unless they've changed them in the last 2 or 3 years. I also put machine chain on mine with MB crunch proofs instead of their cheap swivels.

Here is a trailcam picture of a Red Fox working my first test set. He was well 'guided' and stepped where I hoped he would.

Used Cavens Bobcat Chunk Bait in the 45 degree hole and Graham's Deception Lure on a small branch three feet above the set.

yes, i HIGHLY believe it, in fact, i know it!other than birth, the only time they will use it is very bad/extreme weather conditions. or you can call our DNR office if ya wanna say somethin to that, cause i get my information from them, and they wouldnt be given false info.

I have heard of fox moving thier young from one den to another. Also it seems that the area may dictate the level of cover needed by a fox. In an area that is frequented by coyotes the fox probably is more inclined to hole up for cover.

We a had a fox approach our set and missed the pan. He was there for a while. My question is should we put a diffrent bait in the hole or just leave it alone.

Thanks

i would leave that bait alone and put a different style dirthole with different bait or a scent post nearby
