I have read some do and some dont. Pertaining to 120's for marten sets, do you wax or do you not? Whats your preference.

lol, this is what I thought also, but have heard of people waxing. I was curious as to why the wax. I redye mine annually in logwood but thats it. I tried waxing once before on the conis, and yes it hurts and they just dont stay set in my opinion, from what I have experienced they tend to go off way to easy, even if you burn the wax off the dog and trigger, it still lubes it too much.

kind of curious as to what some think this is a benefit to wax?

Waxing is mainly for perserving the metal imo I tried speed dip on a bunch of my 120 this year instead of dye...I'm not too inpressed with how it lasted on some new 330's I did at the same time hope it bond better to a rusty trap cause after a couple beaver they are shiny new again almost as bad as spray paint just chips off.we will see in a few days

I don't do anything to any bodygrips.

I speed dip everything it holds up great, just make sure your traps have a slight coat of rust first.

I think this is the beat route to go. Just experimented with one dipped trap in Rustolium (tremclad) diluted 50 % with mineral spirits.

There is no advantage to waxing, dying or painting traps for marten, except to keep them from rusting. IMHO

I'd agree as long as we're talking about body grips.

I've dipped and painted bodygrips. I like the painted ones the best. less work down the line.

I think there is a huge advantage to dyeing body grip traps,it does two things, it helps your trap work better and faster, and most importantly you will see less fur damage. I talked to a couple of fur graders from fur harvesters a few years ago and they said keeping traps rust free is one of the single most important first steps to good fur, and is also the step that most trappers miss.

Speed dip and it holds a lot better as the traps rust some. Whenever I dip which is every 2 or 3 years, when it's time to set, I carry a piece of coarse grit fabric backed sand 'paper' to roughen the dog notch and bar where the dog notch will sit. This is for 120's.
What kind of paint are we talking here?
Was able to dip during a heat wave this year, maybe 85 degrees and smoky from forest fires. Seems to be a real nice tight, even coating; better than dips made in cooler weather.

I don't use conni's for marten but my footholds No. 0's and 1's for marten have been in the woods +25 yrs, when I start setting every year I carry a can of WD-40 and give a squirt to the main moving parts of the trap, fast easy and works great, how about the same for conni's?

I am using rustoleum thinned down 50/50 with whatever is recommended. I just keep it in a bucket with a lid and use it over and over each year, just adding more when the level gets low. Puts a nice thin coat of paint on there.

I have some traps in black and some in white, so depending on where they are getting set I pull the color I want.

I tried Formula One this year. The 330's I did properly (allowed the full drying time) worked out nicely. The 120's and #4's I hurried the drying time, I'm going to have to redo them all in the spring.
