Ok in washinghton state a rat traps
is considered non body gripping lol.
I'm thinking I might be able to make
some floating traps using weighted
rat traps anyone ever tried this?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

unless you have a lot of small rats i dont see it working to well. i would think that you would get alot of fired traps and no rats

this is what I did......It is a stake with a "strike bar" added.....then the trap attached.
I now drill a large hole under the pan...for the bait/lure and add a small box or cover on the back to prevent rear access..
It is not Duck friendly so you have to be careful were you use it...or what you bait it with

That's a new one. Not entirely unrealistic either. Your bait would have to be reeeeeeeeel tempting I would think. As a school boy it seemed that carrots and apples on 110 trigger wires worked pretty well where muskrats were climbing high up the creek bank to dig roots. Since then I haven't run into that scenario very often. I would put that back in a square wooden box or pipe at water's edge with just enough vertical clearance for the kill bar to swing. You must want those muskrats pretty bad.

Well were only allowed cage traps of course
the liberals are ok with killing rats and mice
so we have a loop hole on mice and rat traps
I'll have to play there game lol but would be nice
to take some fur with non body gripping rat traps.

If you use the rat trap put a little sliver of wood under both of the springs where it is circled this makes the trap stronger and will work better for muskrats this way

lift up the springs and glue pennies instead of wood, last much longer
