I mostly use 110s but I have a few #1cs, and #1 long springs for my foothold sets for rats and mink. I'm looking to buy some more tomorrow and am thinking of getting some 1.5s instead. Or should I go with some #1longspring stop loss? I'm sure they all work but what's your opinions on this?

I would go with the 1 1/2 coil, the other traps you mentioned will catch and hold mink and rats just fine, and the #1 coil is a nice little coon trap but I just think the 1 1/2 coil is more versitile.

Number one stoploss will hold the rats and mink with a occasional raccoon that you might get.

The #1-1/2 LONG SPRING is the Trap-of-Choice for most big-time Muskrat Trappers here.

Bigger the trap the better. I do a lot of stream and river trapping so I use a lot of the 1.5 and up traps. If you do trapping on slides, I would not set anything smaller than a 1.5 at a slide set. Learned that lesson my first time trapping rats, too many misses with the #1's. I save them for when I go into ponds or marshes for hut trapping.

Go with the more versatile 1 1/2 coil. It has a larger "kill area" and weights more to help aid in drowning.

I trap a lot of rats I don't own a #1 sized trap. 99% of my rat traps are 1.75 or #2 sized traps./ Large kill area they take a rat straight to the bottom. And In my opinon work better then a stop-loss type trap. These big traps make I high catch and lots of times catch the rat by the head or both front feet or both hind feet.
Don't go with any trap smaller then a 1 1/2 sized trap and If you can find any of those #2 square jawed Victors buy them, they make great rat traps.
