I noticed today that after researching, savages 300's have thier own ammo. Their ammo doesnt have as much ft lbs of energy as winchester and I was wondering if you can shoot winchester magnums through a savage 300? I dont own a savage 300 but I may be purchasing one soon

It won't fit anyway. The 300 Win Mag is 2.620" long and the 300 Savage is 1.871" long. Plus the shoulder of the 300 Mag is larger then the 300 Savage.

im confused if the gun I saw today at gander made by savage was a 300 win magnum or 300 savage...It comes with a bushnell scope and costs $499.99 thats about all i know

300 Savage is a great round, not quite a 308 Win, but a critter would never know it

Savage came out with a gun chambered in 300 savage last year, is is some fancy gold plated mess. I hope they start running some regular lever guns again soon. I carried the model 99 for years.

300 Savage was a great deer/black bear caliber and many used them on Elk and Moose for many years. When the .308 was introduced in 1952 it put the 300 Savage pretty much into history. The .308 will shoot a 180 grain bullet the same speed as a 150 grain bullet out of the 300 Savage.

I shot my first deer with my dad's 300 Savage. It was out of a remmington pump rifle.
