I have seven beaver, a million MB750's and snares thanks to sockeye. How many beaver for each wolf bait set? I would like to have several bait/set sites. I see 1-4 sets of wolf tracks at a time on different trails.

Hopefully if things go as planned I can add a few marten and cats. Is it okay to keep adding bodies to a bait pile with traps set around it, say once every couple of weeks?

Do I need to wire the carcass's down?

Does anyone use wolverine? I would think not.

I like to start with a couple carcasses one beaver and one or two other things or two beaver I wire them down. Birds will work them over quite a bit so I add to them every week or two and it helps get the carcasses out of the way. Moose bones, hide and heads work real well too if you have any or can get your hands on some.

I have wolves running through "meadows" (open areas), and really sparse tree cover. Would you put a bait pile out in the open near thier trail or would you try and find a thicket area to put the pile in? How close to the trail? Do you wire them down on the ground or do you try and wire them up so when the snow comes they are still exposed? Might seem silly asking but I'm trying my best to learn. What would you recommend?

Bamm Bamm; if they are using a 'trail' snare it. Same with the bait pile.

HFT: if you can find where they are using an area through the brush I would snare that. Once you have snow, make a trail across those meadows and set the trails with blind sets.

HFT if you can wire off your snares up high it helps put them down faster and avoids problems as it gets their front feet off the ground when the lunge in the snare. I like to wire about 4 1/2 - 5 feet off the ground. this also allows you to raise your loop easier once you get a dumping of snow.

Thanks "O" and White, I'll give it a shot later this month. I took my nephew up north for a few days to my cabin and we had three wolves come through, and a nieghbor has been seeing a pack of 5. Just waiting for the snow to get deep enough to run the machine.

I try to get roadkill and save any scraps from hunting season. then as the season progresses I throw all my skinned carcasses out for wolf bait.
