scalloper is on the mark. I agree with you, around Dennysville i catch more fisher after a fresh snow than ever. Today would have been good day. Well not only snow but when a front comes through its the best fisher trapping. Same with mink and otter.

Is it going to get cold enough to snow tonight. I got 37 drop 4 degrees last hour. I hope snow let it snow. Snowed hard before daylight this morning had enough to make things look white. Even snowed out over the water this morning.

everyone is saying that its colder this year i have to disagree. Last year opening day Nov1 at Venture Brook putting a pocket set in right at sunrise. Everything had an inch of frost on it and it was so dang cold i couldnt feel my hands.

But about the original post about how far apart. I usually have one leaning pole and a 155 in a box on ground near the tree like 15ft away from leaning pole max at one fisher location.

What's a 155 must be a coniber style but what is the measurements. I placed a dirt hole close to each set. See a couple places going to trap some rats is a 7 mile loop for me so thought would spread out some fisher sets with dirtholes by them. I only got a couple out right now only got one more in this morning. Had to remake some sets no yotes but seeing some activity on sets evry night now. Me and daughter was adding some sets near bait pile last evening and a bunch of yotes cut loose 100yrds away while making set. Both new sets made last night worked and missing bait. There has been some fisher seen in my area so maybe.

well in Maine the biggest conibear you can use on the ground is a 155 which is just a 120 with a 5 inch jaws. You could use 120s and you would be o.k. i would suspect its just the 155 gives you that extra inch of jaw spread.

I second that would be good traps to buy with our laws. Was going to buy more 110's but think them would definitely be better.

Hey there Scalloper man nice job might have to get you to give me some hands on lessons. I'll catch you guys yet gaining on the lobsters still got all our gear out. Only hauling 2 to 3 days aweek. I have deffinetly seen a increase in activity maybe this morning. Did you find out where to get details on those 155,s. Would like to make some more sets but have to go to bangor after trap check to get oldest daughter then have youngests daughters birthday. when I see my 20 year old son today kick him in butt for waking me up at 2:30 this morning. I get so fired up to check sets I can't get back to sleep. I get enough traps out a yote will trip over one. Great job glad to hear you got another cat. Im going to get my first cat this year. Would like to think I don't have to take no for a answer.

The guy I refered you to is a far better trapper then I am he has been trapping these areas for about 30 years and has always put up his own fur. He has several "Top LOT" hats from the auction house. I am still prity frusterated with my sets. I have 25 coyote/cat sets out and everyday I get a few messed with by hunters,BHE line men, tippers, and even tresspassers. I did make some changes by useing the liquid antifreeze and this morning that stuff may pay off.

I would love to hear it. I lost one trap so far not shure to who or what. There is a lot more people out I just got my papers from a attorny so can sign them not holding land owner responsible for anything. The tract of land for that is nice and about 16 squar miles gated and posted. The only thing is there is one other guy that has permission to hunt it. A good friend so will keep a eye on traps too. They still cut the lock and enter to hunt I havn't set any traps yet thbe ammount of human activity is crazy. land owners asked if I would contact them if see anyone on it. ACcually it a bunch of land owners and some kind of management thing. I am anxiouse to set it but most the spot I found are visible to people. If I have to go out on boat and can't check trap in morning I know I would loose some. When I set it going to put out game cams one on each enterance so can see who is going in and out so if loose traps. She also told me they have some kind of patrol that checks it often maybe that's most of the tracks have seen. She is emailing me his name and number today. Never had to sign a waiver to hunt or trap land though. I don't think going to be able to touch the land I have access to this year. I was worried about not having enough and beeing forced to trap public or paper company land guess not.I'm going to get him this morning got a good feeling. Added a stinky crab to all my dirt holes yesterday morning. Hear I go can almost see.

Its nice to see that there are still a few good people left thats great that they let you trap that area. Me and the boy are chewing at the bit to get going too. Checking the land sets then checking 24 water sets and setting more water sets the next two days. We want 50-60 water sets and 35-40 land sets. We will see. Good luck...
