Should sets be checked at daylight, or is it O.K. to wait til afternoon? (i.e. after work)

that depends on how many other people will be by before you, if you wait till after work, i check mine before i go to work, less eyes early in the morning, try to get animals removed a quick as possible, some people think they are doing you a favor blasting holes in your catch

theft/people messing with catches in most places is the biggest concern... behind locked gates.. .no worries (usually)..

So losing critters due to being in the trap that long isn't a big concern? Other than coon chewing sometimes? Not too worried about anybody stealing stuff, more concerned about will the catch be there if I don't get there til later on.

Barring something breaking or theft, the animal will be there when you show up.
