This is the third morning this fall that I took my lab, Aly, out pheasant hunting. We didn't make it more than 200 yards from the house and she locked onto a rooster. I walked up about 10 feet away and said "Get it, Aly!". She flushed it, one shot and it was down. Aly retrieved it like an old champ' and dropped it at my feet. She thought it was pretty cool....and so did I!

Cool,
I remember way back before the apparent extinction of michigans pheasants, what fun it was to follow a good dog in a rooster pocked field!
Had a E. setter until we had to put him down a couple yrs ago. Haven't shot a rooster in years...12 or 15 at least, not pheasant country in my part of the state, this is grouse/woodcock country.
