If there is anybody out there as dumb as me and are planning on skinning nutria this year, I wana share a little tip with ya. Knock their teeth out before skinning. The hair actually grows around their teeth making it very hard on a knife to skin out the head. With the teeth gone, once you finish the eye cuts, you can pull the skin by hand all the way to the nose.

Great tip! Thinking about skinning this year. I need a fridge to keep them in until I get home at night. Any idea what the put-up hides might bring this year?

That's good news there EC. $5 for the tail, $3 for the hide. If I could find somebody to give me $2 for the carcass, even at 10 day I'll be sqattin' in high cotton. Nothing compared to those high-volume fellows though. My marshes & swamps should be full of them this year. Gustav put the hammer down on them in my area last year. Hope everybody has a good season.

nutria up here in oregon too. I hate them, but the farmer wants them gone which give me the acces to trap other stuff. Not worth much $2.00 would be a huge price, probably more like 1 buck.
