Towards the end of last season I found a nice cat toilet on a pipeline deep in the woods.

I havn't been back in there this year because this is also an area I bowhunt and I have kept my distance to keep human odor out of the area.

Dec 1st is the opening of our cat season so I have a few questions.

Will this same spot be used as a toilet again this year?

If so, whats the best method for trapping it? Trap location etc?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure whether the same toilet areas are used over and over but making sets anywhere in the vicinity is definitely in cat habitat and that habitat will most always remain the same year after year. I have trapped a lot of cats on pipe lines in my time, I have two pipelines within a mile of where I live. Places that have always been successful is where woods roads cross the line, ridges cross the line, small clearings along the lines, creeks or beaver dams cross the line and of course setting on sign like the toilet is always a good bet. I would say yes. I keep gps coordinates of all my cat toilet's. I even keep them of single scat's. My opinion is they will be back through there sometime. I will ALWAYS set traps right next to a scat, coyote, bobcat, or redfox.

It is my experience if you find scat, they will be back as these animals don't just roam through and go on their way 100 miles down the road. They all have their areas that they inhabit so they will likely be back through that area.

those are places that cats frequent and mark overlaping territory.... you can catch several cats off that spot each year

pick up a couple turds and take them with you and use them at another set if there is a bunch there

What about using turds from a domestic house cat?

What about using domestic house cat feces and mixing it with bobcat urine?

Try using a drop or 2 of catnip essence! I m told it works well, I have no sign of any cats where I m trapping. I v never found one of there "cat holes" so I wouldnt know what to look for. But I bet I would know it once I see it.
